Perseverance, The Angel of Love
Praying always Ephesians 6:18

Perseverance is the rope that ties the soul to the doorpost of heaven. Not to give up in face of the impossible is humanity's ultimate salvation. It is well called "the perseverance of the saints." for it requires saintly determination to continue on in dedication when all the forces of hell are arrayed against the soul.
Perseverance is to the human spirit what the rudder is to a ship.  It will steer the ship dead ahead in spite of the contrary wind. You must have holy determination, pressing on in defiance of all odds.

I guess another way to say it is 'hang in there' that may sound a bit loose, but it says it.  I am around a few Christians, and I am hearing them being upset at what our government is doing.  I am upset, too.  But can I really change what is happening there? No, So should I get caught into the frustrations and be upset myself?  Not really, all that does is hurt myself physically.  Come on people, there is only one person who can really change the course of events, he is working, and he needs our help.  Remember Moses, when they were in battle and he stood in prayer with his hands raised, and the two men held his hands up and as long as they did there was victory.  The only victory we will see is going to happen through prayer, and we don't see a need to pray until our situation is so desperate that we can't take it anymore.  What does it take to get us to come to that need of really seeking God's help?

What is your situation today, what is upsetting to you, overwhelming, frustrating?  Can you change it?  God is waiting with outstretched hands desiring for you to come to him
Father, we come to you with this day, it is the day you have given us, we rejoice and are glad in it, draw us to you and guide our steps, help us to sense your presence in the midst of what we are experiencing.  Thank you for being there for us.  In Jesus Name. Amen.

Yesterday, started out windy and cold.  There was plenty of snow on the road,  but I  made it to school.  After school, I rested and later we went to Cando, thee was a birthday supper for our pastor and his wife.  It was a fun time together.

Contentment
Many are the afflictions of the righteous but the Lord delivereth him out of them all. Psalm 34:19

Be patient in tribulation and I will minister My grace to you and your heart will rejoice.  For when outer blessings are withheld, inner peace is deepened, for the soul turns to worship with less distraction.
Disappointment is foreign to the Spirit, for it has no part in faith.  The trusting soul possesses all things in Christ and looks not to others for blessing therefore he can never be disappointed.  Joy and contentment crown his head and peace reigns in his heart.

Oh, what awesome thoughts and how much God wants this to be a reality in our lives.  When we reflect on problems that we have faced, times when situations seemed so impossible, then as we pass through that time or experience and we reflect back, God was with us, we might not have liked the experience, but God did help us.  How much easier it would have been for us if we had been able to yield to him immediately rather than trying to do it "ourselves' or 'our way.'  What is happening for you today or at this time in your life?  Is it something that seems impossible?   Are you willing to yield it to God and allow God's best to happen?

Father, we thank you for your care and provision, for your grace and your mercy and most of all for your patience with us.  We give you this day, help us to be willing to yield to you the problems that we really can't change.  Father speak to us by your Holy Spirit and show us your desire for us for this day.  In Jesus Name. Amen.

/Yesterday, was a school day. Ken the exchange student was asking questions about prom,  I know he would like to go, I just hope that he isn't disappointed by someone saying no to him if he should ask them.  After school I went to Cando to clean church.  I had decided that I was making some changes in the Sunday School class room and that I wanted it ready for Sunday when I get there, so that is what I did.  But it took time and by 6;30 I wasn't completely done.  Four other ladies joined me and we tied the quilts that I have made for Nicaragua.  I will sew the edges here at home.  It was a really good time of fellowship and sharing and of prayer together.  Colleen had brought a really good dip recipe, I will put it on the blog for you one of these days.

I do not send storms

There is no peace....to the wicked Isaiah 57:21

Dear Jesus, in the hollow of Thy hand there is peace.  Do not ask Me to give you peace when you have removed yourself from My hand or if you are unwilling to rest quietly there. I give My peace to all who love and serve Me with singleness of heart.
I do not send storms upon your soul. they are generated by the pressures of your disobedience.
Only in repentance shall my people find peace, and only in singleness of heart shall they find joy.

These are strong words.  What have I allowed in my life that pulls me away from God?  What is making me stressed?  Could it be that God really doesn't desire for each of us to be doing some of the things we are doing?  Sometimes, somethings seems so simple and we think oh, I can do that, it will only take this amount of time, but with each thing that we say that to, we soon find ourselves overwhelmed by those little things and we loose the joy of the Lord.  He is calling us back to his side to be truly close to him.

Father, we come to you with a new day, new experiences and new challenges, Father, we pray for your help to discern what you really want us to do.  Speak into our hearts from your spirit and show us your desire for our lives.  Help us to be will vessels and to listen to what you are saying to us.

Yesterday was a school day not that there was really anything great about it.  Jack was with Frank while Alice took Dorothy to the Doctor.

Testings
That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ  1 Peter 1:7

In a multitude of testings I would perfect your understanding.  I am not unaware of the pressures thus inflicted upon you, but as the trials come and go. I not only turn them into a means of blessing, but I never fail to make available My comfort and My sustaining strength.

All I can is is Amen, and thank you Lord.  I know we don't like the trials and testings, but they are a part of our walk with God, the difference with being in the world and being in Christ is that in Christ, God is with us, he is guiding us and keeping us.  He desires to help us grow in our relationship with him.  I reflect on 'people of God' people who are spokesmen/women for God.  How did they get there?  It was their life experiences that have brought them to this place.  I wonder how many times we have failed the tests put in our path, and that has meant we had to experience the test again.  I encourage you to give thanks to your heavenly Father even in the midst of the trial you are experiencing.  God is with you and he will keep you, he desires to guide you through.  Keep your eyes on Jesus.

Father, thank you for this day, thank you for rest, and thank you for grace.  Guide our steps and direct our paths this day.  Help us to keep our eyes focused on you. and our heart in tune to what you are speaking to us.  In Jesus name.  Amen

Yesterday was a school day, and I stayed after school to serve at a basketball game.  It was a really busy night, and we sold a lot of food.  It was good to get home.

Faith Manifesting in Divine Response
My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions mouths, that they have not hurt me Daniel 6:22

No evil can hurt you if you yield it up to Me, because as you do so, I bring to bear upon it forces of good.  One example in the Bible is the visitation of angels for the preservation of Daniel.  The power of righteousness at work within the heart of Daniel brought to his aid the protecting forces. It was faith and committal manifesting into divine response.
The same law will work for you. Test it and prove it.

Do we believe that God is with us, and wants to help us?  Is he there to help us when the challenges of life come our way?  Has he allowed challenges in our lives, to manifest himself and draw us to him?

Father, we thank you for your love and grace, that you are a very present help in time of need, Open our eyes to see more of you, to see you as you are waiting with outstretched arms to help us.  In Jesus Name. Amen.

Yesterday, we had Sunday School and church, with a pot luck meal together and then the annual meeting.  After a nap at home, Jerry and I went and got all of the meat  from freezer in O'Brien house and moved it up to their deep freeze so we could shut off the other freezer.

Warring in the Spirit
They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony Revelation 12:11

Only the one who is taught of the Spirit can war in the Spirit.  You must war, because there are enemies unseen to human eyes but constantly besieging the child of God.  But he is not left defenseless.  Heavenly protection is his as well as offensive weapons.  The sword of the Spirit, the blood of the Lamb, and the word of testimony are provided for every saint of God, but must be put into action in faith before they can bring about a deliverance.

Do you realize we are in a battle, and the forces of the enemy are unseen, but there.  God is calling us to put on the Armour of God and to pray in the spirit for his protection, and to apply the blood of Jesus.  Last year, I was doing some reading and read about the Armour of God,  God desires to put upon your head the Helmet of Salvation, and cover you with the breastplate of righteousness, that your loins would be gird with truth, your feet shod with the Gospel of Peace, that you would carry the Sword of the Spirit which is the word of God and that you would be covered with the shield of Faith.  I read where an individual would visually put on the Armour before they left the house,  I don't usually think about it til I get in the car, and then I try to remember and pray for each of you that God would protect you with his Armour.  Remember the story where they held up Moses hands as he prayed and they were winning, but if the arms went down they were defeated.  I feel that when I pray for you I am holding you up just like Moses raised his arms and there was victory.  Is there someone in your lives, maybe your family, that God would want you to do the same for them?  We are in a spiritual battle and God is preparing us for the battle that lies ahead.

I also would commend to you that there are many verses that are truly prayers, pray those verses.

Father, help us to take seriously the battle that is in our midst,  Help us to listen to your spirit as you speak to us and show us how to pray.  In Jesus Name. Amen

Yesterday was a busy day,  I had DAR in Devils Lake in the morning, I went to a quilt show that was uptown. There was a gal there from Alamo, who had fabric from a foreign country, she actually goes there and helps the people learn how to sew and quilt.  I think she might be doing this through a Lutheran Church.  When I got home Dad was just leaving for the coffee hour at the Senior Center, so I joined them there.  Susan Werner's husband passed away.  Some of you might know Susan, and she is actually related to you.

A yielded, Believing Vessel
But the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits  Daniel 11:32

Mine is the wisdom and the honor and the power and the glory.
I am never defeated, but My justice and My mercy are obstructed by human ignorance and by the lack of faith.  Be aware of Me. I can accomplish great things through even one yielded, believing vessel.  Remember David, and how I wrought a gret victory for the armies of Israel through his courage when all others were paralyzed by fear.
Move on, and never entertain the thought of retreat.

I believe that today we are challenged that God wants to use us, and he is waiting for us to respond,  Maybe our thoughts are little and insignificant, but as we step out with even a little faith he will meet us and give us courage to take the next step.  What is God saying to you, what does he want you to do?  Maybe today it seems insignificant, but it could be God preparing you for something in the future.  I reflect on the things God has taught me, or the ways he has trained me, and today I know it was God.
Father help us to listen to your little nudgings and promptings, to take that first step and do what you are speaking into our heart.  Thank you for so patiently and gently working in our lives.  In Jesus Name.  Amen

Yesterday I forgot to write, Friday, I went to Devils Lake after dinner because they were having volley ball tournament at school and I didn't need to be there, I was able to take the tax information to Emil, and do some other errands, and then came home.

Prepare
And God said unto Noah....Make thee an ark of gopher wood Genesis 6:13-14
Your own future is shaped by today's decisions, therefore the future should not be ignored as though irrelevant to today.  Jesus did not teach man to ignore the future, but to prepare for it.  His warning was against anxiety concerning tomorrow, not against preparation.
It was I who taught Noah to prepare for the flood. Draw on My wisdom, for to Me all things are plain now.

I have only one thought today, keep your eyes on Jesus,  The world around us is a mess, but God isn't, he has everything under control.  As to our future, he knows it and holds it in his hands, the choices we make affect our tomorrow.

Father, we pray for wisdom and discernment for you directions in our lives.  Help us to seek you and be drawn to you.  You are our very present help in time of need.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Yesterday was a normal day at school, afterwards I was at home. Nothing exciting to report.

-- Spiritual Awareness
We have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things....of God  1 Corinthians 2:12
As a child has eyesight, but only by teaching and study does he learn the art of reading, so likewise, what I do for you is to train you to comprehend intelligently that which you see in the Spirit.
The same principle applies in the other areas of spiritual awareness.  Let Me by your teacher and guide you into how to interpret the information that comes to you.

After I had sent this mornings thought I realized that I wrote the same one as yesterday, but with very different thoughts.  I t is very early in the morning and when I came upstairs this morning what I wrote is just what I had been thinking.  And it is because Jack and I had been watching TV last night, and there are a lot of negative things on TV.  The world and our country are in a mess, and I can't change the choices they are making, but I can choose to make good choices myself.
What God is doing in our lives is for our benefit, he has our best interest in mind and his guidance and direction is the very best.

Father help us to seek you while you can be found.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Prepare
And God said unto Noah...Make thee an ark of gopher wood.  Genesis 6:13-14

What might God be speaking to you to prepare for in your life?  Each one of us are in different seasons of life, so what he is saying to you might be different than for me, but he is speaking to each of us.  Listen to his voice.  You might not be accustomed to thinking that God is talking to you, but he is, He might be speaking about natural things that are a part of your everyday life, or he might be speaking about things that have a spiritual significance in your life.  When I read this I thought about the feelings that I have been having.....First, I have friends around who are so disgusted, and upset with the things happening in our government, I don't like it either but really I can't change much, I can only pray.   I think most of you can remember back in the late 90's, it would have been around the time of the flood and it was a very difficult time for us financially,  God helped us through that time, but even then I felt that we would see it again, and we are, and I know that God is with us, and God is speaking to us about the choices that we make.  I think I wrote about this earlier this winter, but I again feel to say it.  Think about _what you can use of what you have before buying more of something_.  Here in America we have gotten to be so "stuff and thing" conscious, times are changing and it is going to change, but God hasn't changed and he will meet our needs.  Yesterday I was reading in world magazine that in orange County California there are 13,000 children who are homeless.  That is almost more than we can comprehend.

Father, thank you for providing for our needs, help us to include you more in our lives, draw us to your side and into your presence, show us ways that we can be a more useful vessel in your kingdom.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Yesterday, was a school day,  and afterwards I cleaned church and we had Bible study at Dicks.  I stopped to see Matt and Mavis for a while before Bible Study.

The Glory Life
For my thoughts are not your thoughts neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord   Isaiah 55:8

Thou knowest not the direction of thyself, but it shall be revealed unto thee by My Spirit, saith the Lord.  Day by day and step by step, thou shalt walk by faith, not by thine own cunningly devised plans.
Question Me not, nor ask Me why, neither put confidence in the wisdom of thine own thoughts.

Only God knows the steps he truly wants me to take, I don't know his desire, I can't tell any of you what to do.  If you asked me I might make a suggestion, but I might not.  Something I have come to feel really strongly is that, God does speak to each one of us, we may not verbally stop and ask God for directions, but he is giving them just the same.  It is only when we hesitate or seem to be uncertain of what to do, that then we might need to ask God for directions.  Our walk with God is truly a walk of faith.  He is there, he is guiding and we need to put our hand in the hand of the master and trust him to lead us.

Father, we thank you for loving and caring about every aspect of our life, today we ask for your guidance and directions in each step we take.  Father, I pray for each one of our children, for their spouses, and for the grandchildren and their spouses, and the great grandchildren. Guide their steps and direct their path this day.  Keep your hand upon them.  Draw them to you and give them a desire to know your will for their lives.  In Jesus Name. Amen

/Yesterday, we were back in school, and it was a good day.  After school I drove to Devils Lake, I had some business and went to Bible Book store.  I was there for a while and had a good visit with Donna.  They need to make decisions about their business, then I went to see Edna.  I had brought along quilts and wanted to show her, as some of the fabric came from her, she gave me more fabric.  Dad and I were up quite late, he wanted to show me somethings on the internet that he had been looking at, so it was late before we got to bed and now it is another day.......

Ministering Angels
Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. Philippians 4:6

Be anxious for nothing.
Always turn to Me before you look to any other source of assistance.  My love will light your path, so that you may be guided in finding other help.  I have given you ministering angels, who may sometimes come to you in the form of your friends.  Accept their help as from Me, and your blessing will be doubled.  You may also, in turn, be used in similar manner to bless others.

I find this a real blessing to read today.  First that we are asked to turn to God for help and then that he might use someone else to bless us.  Sometimes, the hardest thing in life is to let others help us.  How do you feel about this.  Do you realize that God does want to help you?  Can you accept help from someone else?

Father,  We commit this day into your hands, and we ask for your guidance in each thing that we do.  Father do you desire to minister to us through someone else, or do you desire for us to minister to someone else need.  Help us to be patient and gracious in those areas of our life.  In Jesus Name.  amen

Yesterday was a school holiday and I enjoyed being here at home,  I did some cleaning in a few ares, though you might not be able to see it if you came here.  But the big job was to organize the information to take to Emil for taxes, Jack was so gracious to leave the house so I could focus.  I think he visited with Frank for a while.  I had one more quilt top to put together and it is done.  Now I want to sew some children's clothes for missions.  But today, is a school day and it will be a good day.

Faith and the Delivering Angel
Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear. and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them 1Samuel 17:36

"I slew the lion and the bear," said David, and having thus developed courage, he moved unflinchingly to confront the giant Philistine.  That which had been tried in solitude broke into evidence in the public crisis. It was in this are of faith and courage that he was above his fellows.
Secret faith had its moment of open revelation. Build inner faith from the lesser challenges, and it will be your delivering angel in the most calamitous moment.

When I started reading this, my first thoughts were: our faith grows, it starts by having faith for small things, praying for small things, and as we see God answering, we then pray for greater things,  Eventually, we can/will  pray about the lions and bears in our lives, but it first started small.  I have likely told you this before, but Grandma Helen would tell about asking God to help her with what to cook for the next meal.  What is your need today? Have you ever thought to ask God to help you?  I encourage you to write down your request and then as you see the answer, write down the answer, and the time it happened.  Your faith will be encouraged as you do.

Father, we thank you for this day, and for you grace and care.  Help us Father to come to you with our needs and to seek you with our heart.  Thank you for hearing and answering.  In Jesus Name. Amen.

Yesterday was a good day, after church and Sunday School, we had our usual nap, cat included!!  In the evening we went to the musical at Zoar Church in Hampden.  Joni Haglin wrote the musical and directed it, it was very well done and with a good gospel message.

Adversity
In every thing give thanks   1 Thessalonians 5:18

When you do not strive against adversity, its power to hurt you is destroyed.  The flesh may suffer, but the spirit will be blessed.
My voice speaks through every situation to the ear that is yielded to the Spirit.  My love flows freely through every sorrow to the heart that is devoted to Me. I will not fail anyone resting and trusting in My goodness.
Evils pass as ships in the night when peace reigns in the surrendered soul.  Leave with Me every unsolved problem.  Rejoice while I work it all out.

/I was encouraged by these thoughts today.  I feel that they must be appropriate for each one of us.  We all are facing situations that are challenges in our lives, As long as we keep our focus on our heavenly Father, nothing that we are facing can destroy us, It may be difficult to walk through, but God has promised that 'I will never leave you or nor forsake you, and low I am with you always"  Do you think he is there? yes he is.  You may not feel his presence, you may not be conscious of his presence, but he is there.  He has not left you, he desires to meet your need for this day.
Father, we thank you for giving us a night of rest, and bringing us to this new day,  help us to keep our focus on your presence and your love for us.  In Jesus Name. Amen/

Yesterday,  Jack went to Devils Lake with Jerry and Julie,  Jackson and Jesse came over and spent the day with me.  They really played good together, they know Grandma's rules, they followed them.  We had some times of music, legos and ofcourse hide the thimble(spool of thread).  In the afternoon we went to town for lunch with the seniors.  By the end of the time, Jesse was sitting on Larry Ohma's lap.  Larry's two grandsons were with them and they were learning how to play pool.  Afterwards we drove over to see Frank and Dorothy and their cat.  The boys played a game on the floor with ping pong balls, and the cat with them.  When we came back everyone was home.  I am still cutting and sewing quilt blocks.

/To Feel Need Is to Receive Grace
Call unto Me, and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.  Jeremiah 33:3

No obstacle within yourself can restrict My grace.  I use many vessels while they are struggling with their failures; for in their conscious sense of need, they are more yielded to Me than they who think themselves to be without flaw.
To feel need is to receive grace.  The mighty things which you do not comprehend are the miraculous things I do for you and through you in your acknowledged times of need.

Do you feel a need today?  Does something seem overwhelming to you?  What mighty things might God be wanting to show you this day?  All he asks is for us to call unto him.

Father I pray that you would make yourself real to my family this day, and to Jack and I.  Show us the things that you want to do in our lives.  The ways you want to change us, draw us to you and help us today to keep our eyes focused on you.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
/
Yesterday, we got up early to go to Grand Forks,  Jack drove the Suburban up to the door and I looked out to see a very low tire, so we had to put it in the garage and take the old blue Jeep, we got along just fine.  The doctor does say that I have a Hernia and surgery is set for March 12th.  Between now and then I desire to get some things done here, so I will need to use my time wisely.  We came home after lunch so Jack could get the tire fixed.  another nail, so I don't know where I am finding them.

This is something that I read this morning and it is for each of you:

VERSE:
I thank my God every time I remember you.

-- Philippians 1:3
   http://www.SearchGodsWord.org/desk/?query=Philippians+1:3

THOUGHT:
Certain people are blessings. It doesn't matter if we visit with
them on the phone, get an encouraging email, or see them
face-to-face. Any time we remember them, we thank God for them. So
let's follow Paul's example and let them know they give us reasons
to offer thanks to God.

PRAYER:
Loving LORD, thank you for ... our family
They have blessed our lives in so many
ways, so I'm asking you now to bless their lives with your grace,
power, and Spirit. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

/Hold Fast
Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith  Hebrews 12:2

Hold fast that which you have, and let no one take your crown.
Let no one hinder you in pursuit of the reward.  Let nothing stand in the way of your complete victory.
Let no weariness or discouraging thought cause you to loosen the rope of faith, but bind it tighter and anchor fast to My Word.
My Word can never fail.
/
I have several thoughts this morning.  I had a recent conversation with Pastor Rob of the Starkweather Lutheran Church,  and he expressed the value of God's word,  That was encouraging,  God is working there in their midst as they study the word.  Dad and I have been watching some Christian programing.  Joyce Meyers has been having speakers and staff sharing and it has been about encouraging.  I think I already wrote about this, but I do challenge you to encourage someone today,  a good place is with the people right inside our house,  The author talks about not hindering someone or standing in the way of their victory.  I don't ever feel that I can tell you what to do, because I don't know the thoughts that God is giving you,  my role is to encourage you to listen when God is speaking, and he is speaking.  When we pray God is there and we are praying for you.

Father we are thankful for you, for making yourself real to us, and that you are the guide and source of our very existence.  Draw us nearer, nearer Lord to you this day, Father, who do you want us to encourage this day? Our prayer is that you will put people in our path for us to bless, by a smile, a kind word.  Help us to relax in you, and to not be so work driven that we miss opportunities to be a blessing to someone around us.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.

Yesterday, they started school late,  so we have had a lot of short days, I suspect that since our principal is now a bus driver, he realizes how difficult it is to drive on those roads in the dark,  I think there may have been some blowing in the night, too.  Some of the gravel roads are like an ice skating rink.  After school, I helped Karen Lindenberg get ready for her special program that is today.  Yesterday, her students were preparing food that they will be serving to their parents.  I spent some time printing off some of the history I have been organizing.

/Liberty
Those that walk in pride he is able to abase.  Daniel 4:37
Stand fast in the liberty wherein I have made you free and allow no one to move you into a position of compromise.  Be diligent to make the most of the opportunities thus afforded you.
You will never discover what I have planned for you if in your zeal you run ahead and become again entangled.  I free you and I want to keep you free.  Why do you look to others for help when I am already at work moving mountains on your behalf?
Be at peace.
/
All I can say is, this is a strong word for us today.  For me and for you.  I reflect on my life, times that I went ahead of God, and didn't wait for what I felt he was telling me to do, it turned out a disaster.  I am learning to wait.  When he has set me free of something,  it would be easy to get entangled back in it again, but why would I want to do that.    Yesterday through the e-mail came an ad from a basket weaving company wanting to sell me reed.  It was a reminder of a time when that was so important, but that has passed......But what is entangling us?  What has God set us free from and we are allowing ourselves to be trapped in again?  What do we desire to be free from? I have written this before  If the Son shall set you free you shall be free indeed.  This is from John chapter 8 and it is a key to our life in Christ.

Father, we thank you for send your son Jesus to die for our sins, and to set us free from the power of sin,  help us to understand that in a new way this day, help us to understand anew what you are doing for us.  Guide us in the choices we make this day, May they be honorable to you.  In Jesus name.  Amen

Yesterday, was a regular day of school, it started on time, but was out early for parent teacher conferences.  We received word in the morning that Frank was having problems, chest pains.  Jack was over there in the morning. There was new snow on the ground, but otherwise a usual day.  I still am cutting blocks for a quilt.

You Shall Not Be Earthbound
The water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.  John 4:14

Whatever you need, if you will look to Me, I will supply.  I will surround you and preserve you, so that in Me you may live, move, and have your being, existing in Me when apart from Me you would die.
You will live in a realm where the things of earth will not be able to limit your movement; but you will be freed in Me to a place where your spirit may soar as the eagle.
/
Wow!  Does this seem appropriate to you today?  What is the need that you are experiencing today?  When we focus on our need we miss what God wants to do in our lives.  I went to sleep last night feeling a need myself, and this morning I can't say that the circumstances are different, but my attitude is, because I have been reading God's word.  We are living in a world that is a mess, it seems to be worse daily, but we don't have to let that world control us, God wants us to keep our eyes on him.  That happens when we read his word and pray and seek his face.  You might say, I don't have time to do that,  God will back us up to the wall so we don't have a choice, when he gets our attention He can talk to us and minister to us.

Father, we come to you for this day, guide our steps and direct our path,  draw us to you and help us to listen to what you are saying to us.  May the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in your sight oh, Lord our God,  In Jesus name, Amen.

Yesterday school started two hours late because of ice, so everything was different, shorter schedules, classes changed.  After school I went to Cando so I could see Holly, when I got to the hospital, Jesse said she had just gone to sleep, after being awake for 24 hours.  so I left to talk to Gary, he didn't answer the door, though I saw his vehicles were there.  So I went to the church to clean, and to call him.  Holly is experiencing, anxiety, panic feelings.  She is a precious gal,  We prayed over the phone and after cleaning I came on home.  It was 34-35 above when I drove home.  I am cutting up more pieces of fabric for a quilt,  I truly want to get rid of fabric.  This is a new pattern.

/A Merry Heart
A merry heart doeth good like a medicine  Proverbs 17:22
Nothing is gained, but much is lost by bitterness of spirit in the day of trouble.  You may not be able to escape calamity but you should even more avoid a doleful countenance because it denotes a tempest in the heart and turbulence of mind, and reveals rebellion against the hand of God as it shapes destiny.
Look unto Jesus, "the author and finisher of our faith" (Hebrews 12:2) Peace, joy and hope are His mantle and holiness emanates from His presence.
/
Last night  we watched Joyce Meyers on TV, she had a man named John Maxwell as her guest, they were talking about being encouragers,  We are what we confess, if we are negative,   we speak that way and that is what we give to people, if we are positive we speak that way.  It is then that we can become an encourager.  Really that is something we could all be, and it would change the world, atleast the world around us.  I reflect on people in my life who have encouraged me. Sometimes, they may not have realized how helpful their words were to me.

I also reflect on the danger of a spirit of bitterness, I remember a time and a situation with my family, the things that were happening and how thankful I am for how God helped me deal with a situation which could have become a time of bitterness.  It truly was God,  then I reflect on people who are bitter, they have allowed life events and experiences to give them a really bad attitude.  They have allowed bitterness to settle in their heart, and it is so hard to be set free from that spirit.

Father, today we thank you for life and the hope that we have in you.  You are all that we need, help us to look to you for the help we need to meet todays challenges.  In Jesus Name.  Amen

Yesterday was a different day,  first we have an automatic system that calls us about school announcements, we had three calls yesterday, first 2 hours late, then no school, then last night that buses would be 2 hours late today.  So it was a day at home,  I spent my time sewing.  I have one goal, get rid of the material that I have been accumulating. I am making them into quilt tops, then I will put backs on them.  We had some frustrating times, Jack and I were going to drive to Grand Forks in the afternoon, when it was warm, so I would be there for the Dr. appointment, Jacqui didn't want us to go, so now the appointment is for Friday.  Julie did call, she is in Mpls, and at 12 at night We got a call from a man in our church, he had taken his wife to the hospital in the evening and she had called that she was having chest pains, they have a young son, and no one to stay with him, so he was taking son with him to the hospital.  If I can I will try to see them today.  Our pastor isn't home yet.  Then I felt better about the change,  God has other things for us to do.

Strengthening Power
What I would, that do I not; but what I hate, that do I  Romans 7:15

You need the daily inward strengthening of the new man in the power of My might, to be enabled to walk in obedience to My commands.
You know to do good but continually battle the tendencies of your human nature to do otherwise.  For the flesh resisteth the progress of the Spirit (Romans 7:15-25).  But as Paul, you make your confession:  Thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ!
/
I need God's help to live my faith.  Just as the author says, how often do I get frustrated with myself because I have made a poor choice?  I know God wants me to do something and I don't.  Only as I yield to God's direction does it change.  When I am frustrated I know I need God's word, just as I eat physical food for strength, I read God's word for spiritual strength.  It is rather obvious we are living in uncertain times in our country, only as we keep close to God will we be able to keep our faith (and our sanity) in the days that lie ahead.

Father, we lift our family to you this day, Father guide their steps and direct their path and draw them to you the Lord and Saviour, the one who holds their future in your hands.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Yesterday, we had a guest speaker at church, as our pastor is in Nicaragua.  After an afternoon nap, I went for a walk and then over to see Frank and Dorothy.

Motivation
If my people.....humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.  2 chronicles 7:14

Confession, repentance, and prayer strengthen the will to move in the direction of holiness.  No one is brought into a life of holiness by outside force.  The inner desire is always the first and the foremost motivation. As soon as the desire for righteousness is present, the Holy Spirit will immediately fill it with His own energy and bring the soul into victory.

/When I read this today, I know that there are areas in my life that God is speaking to me about,  areas where I have put my selfish interests before that of God, God is speaking to me about that.  What in my life is keeping me from being all that God wants me to be?  What is keeping me from wholly and completely living for him?   Is it something physical, something spiritual?  Real peace comes as I yield to him.

Father, we give you this day, guide our steps and direct our path, but most of all draw us to you. Take those life situations and use them to your honor and glory this day.  In Jesus Name.  Amen.
/
Yesterday was a quiet day at home, I mailed a package and other than that I stayed at home, had a nap and did some cleaning.  Towards evening, I got a call from a person who is related to your dad, I had e-mailed a funeral home when I read about his mother dying and realized that we were related.  He lives in northern Minnesota and so in the evening I put together info for him about his family.

Speak the Truth
Be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.  Ephesians 6:10

Do not be intimidated by anyone, but speak forth My Word as I give it to you.
You are not pleasing Me but trying to please men.  They will detect your inconsistency in spite of your best efforts, for in one way or another, the truth will break through.  You need not say all that is in your heart, but you must either speak the truth or be silent.
Let the life and witness of Jesus Christ be your guide.
/
I am reflecting on the thoughts that I had last evening.  When I was at the Basketball game the night before, there was some dialogue by people that I was working with, but I generally do not reply, just listen, Then the next day I am mulling over what was said and thinking why didn't I say something, but I know that is how God works in my life, I usually don't have any thoughts at the time.  That is probably good.  Sometimes less said the better it is.  There are plenty of scriptures to back that idea....A soft answer turns away wrath...is one.

But when it comes to speaking the truth I need to be sure that God really wants me to speak it.  When it isn't really God you have that feeling inside of you that you should have kept quiet.  Have you ever had that happen?  Oh, I wish I hadn't said that.....I feel that I need to daily pray and ask God to guide my steps and actions.

Father, we are your vessels, guide our steps today and direct our paths,  Father is there a truth you want us to speak, guide us as we do speak, that our words would be seasoned with your love and your power.  In Jesus name, Amen.
/
Yesterday, was another school day,  I am still working on the quilt top, but nothing really exciting.  I think Dad was over to see Frank.  We trust that you all have a great day.

/Release Your Tensions
The work of righteousness shall be peace, and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.  Isaiah 32:17

When you are rebuffed and bear it patiently, yes, even in the moment when it appears as though the actions of others prevent the fulfillment of your own inner vision, be assured, My child, of My understanding and patience, and know that I am a harmonizing influence.
I have a unique plan for each life, and as you release to Me your tensions, you can rely on Me to continue My work in each soul and bring it ultimately to perfection.
/
I believe that what the author says is what God wants us to do.  All the frustrations and hurts that we face daily, our Heavenly Father wants to take.  We try to hold unto them, we let them hurt us.  We let them affect how we respond to our daily life.  I again think of the illustration that I have given you of the vision God gave me at Heartview with my dad....The bottle which I put all of my hurts in and eventually it blows and someone gets hurt, because in the blowing process I probably don't control my emotions very well.  What is hurting you today, or is it Who is hurting you/I today?  Or who am I hurting today?  Am I hurting someone?  Jesus came to bear the burdens we are experiencing.  He came to heal the hurts we have today.  Sometimes we pray for healing for someone, but truly the healing needs to be not a visible physical one but rather an emotional one that the world may not be able to see.

Father, we come to you this day,  we ask for your help in what we face,  Father help us to look to you and to allow you to take the burdens that we are bearing,We thank you for that in Jesus name.  Amen.

Yesterday, was a long day.  I offered to cover for Maureen Bertsch at the girls basketball game so she could go and see her daughter play at Langdon.  The game didn't start til 6 so I stayed after school and actually went into  a classroom closed the door, laid my coat on the carpet and took a nap.  At first I was the only one there, and felt a bit overwhelmed but the rest did come and it went o.k. but it was a long day.

On Coping with Success
Whosoever hath, to him shall be given....but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath  Matthew 13:12

Be never entangled by thoughts concerning the reactions of others to your ministry.  Minister, and follow the leading of the Spirit.  Search your heart, and pray for the strength to receive great results.
I may withhold blessings because I foresee your own unreadiness to receive.  Learn how to prepare your mind and heart to cope with success, otherwise when it comes you may by your very unreadiness undo the good that has been done.
/
I think when I reflect on my life, there were areas that I truly strived to be something that wasn't Gods will.  I know in the area of crafts/art and selling, that that wasn't God's desire for my life.  If I was to do anything it was to teach others and share by giving.  When I could come to that place to accept that as from God, life was a lot happier.  Now, I reflect on many opportunities that I did experience, things I learned to do, but that those seasons have now passed.  There came a time and a place where I really had a desire to be used by God,  and then as I would seek God, he would use me,  My life could have been a lot different if I hadn't been such a slow learner.  Today, I don't see success as an issue, I know that the way God wants to use me, I will not be in the limelight, It is to be his vessel and willing to serve in a very unnoticed way amongst people.

What is on your heart today?  Is there something that you desire to do? to be?  Do you struggle with having confidence to do it?  God wants to use each of us.  But not in the same way.  I encourage you to seek God for his desire for you.
Father we commit this day into your hands, guide our steps and direct our paths, lead us down the path you have chosen for us.  Open and close doors in our lives, so that we are directed to do your will for us.  In Jesus name.  Amen
/
Yesterday, we got a new student.  I didn't recognize the student at first, he just looked like a lot of others.  Then I heard his name, so I asked him, "what is your moms name?"  He is Native American and was adopted by a single lady, who has truly given her life to help him grow and become a successful person.  He met a girl from our school on the internet and now here he is in our school.  I know that God has brought him here, but how successful the situation will be, that I am not sure.  After school I cleaned our church and then Jack and I were at Bible Study.

/Indolence
The field of the slothful..was all grown over with thorns...and the stone wall thereof was broken down  Proverbs 24:30-31

You could easily fill your day with frivolous or selfish pursuits.  Guard your time and energies, as they are the material from which the spiritual ministries are of necessity channeled.  Dissipate your physical strength or carelessly waste your time.  and thus shall the Spirit be thwarted.  Simple indolence is by itself a militant force against the Spirit.  Resist it in the full recognition of the destructive power that it is./

I translate that in my own life to mean.  I am wasting my time on frivolous things that keep me from being what God wants me to be.  Each of us is in different seasons of life, and granted what is important in your life at this time is likely different than what is important to me. Am I doing things that keep me from being an effective wife, mother, father, husband, even daughter or son?  Am I self centered, thinking only of my self?

I was blessed by a testimony yesterday about a man that I do know, who was in the hospital dying, and friends stopped in his room, talked to this person who seemed to be unconscious, about his eternal destiny,  He heard and prayed and responded and he came alive and didn't die but rather was sent to a nursing home.  Truly, when I reflect on his life, that was a miracle,  God was there, angels are rejoicing in heaven,  and believers here on earth.  Are there times, when God wants to do that in our lives, or use us to tell someone about his son and his desire to save?

Father, search our hearts and show us what your desire is for this day.  Help us Father to be the vessels you would have us to be.  Guide our steps and direct our paths this day.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Yesterday,  it was a usual day of school.  After school I took Yvonne Faaland out to Vickie Erickstad to get her hair cut, and then I drove up to see Frank and Dorothy.  After supper I was so tired that I went to bed at 8 and slept right through til 6 this morning.  I am refreshed and ready for the day.

/The Bent of the Soul
Do all in the name of the Lord Jesus. Colossians 3:17

I am in business as surely as I am in the sanctuary of worship.  In fact, the former becomes the proving ground of the alter.
Your own inner consecration hallows the outer action.  Two may do what appears to be the same work.  The difference is in the bent of the soul whether it be for the glory of God or for self-aggrandizement.  I breathe My very life into that which is offered to Me as a sacrifice of love./

I guess the sum of these thoughts, is What is our motive?  Why do we do what we do?  I can reflect on years when I don't feel my motives were very honorable, I am thankful for God's grace and his work in my heart.  I know  I feel differently today, but still it is something for us to always search our hearts, and allow God to work in our very being to draw us to him and his motives.  This year one of my year cries is that God would give me more compassion for those about me.  I see him allowing things that cause me to feel what others are feeling.

Father, we lift this day to you, search our hearts and try our ways and lead us in your everlasting way.  We pray for your ministry in the lives of each in our family that they would be drawn to you in your own gentle way.  In Jesus name.

Yesterday was an interesting day.  First Ken, our exchange student is doing well in his new home.  I left school early to go to the Cando Clinic at Devils lake.  I wanted to talk to Amy Cox the nurse practitioner.  Some of you know that I feel that I have a hernia, and when I had it checked in December, they did an ultra sound, and that day they couldn't find it.  But it has continued to bother, so I felt to ask Amy about it.  She had a nurse practitioner student with her, and when she walked it I remember her from 4-H, she actually was in your nursing class, Jacqui, her name is Joanne Amann.  They feel that I do have a hernia and that I should deal with it, so they are making arrangements for me to see a Dr from Grand Forks.  Interestingly, if I do see this Dr. he is the one my physical therapist had recommended.  I see God's hand in it.  My blood pressure was a bit high, so I need to focus on that.  So would you guess it, last night I wasn't able to sleep, I lay there all night and only slept for maybe an hour,   disgusting.  I had made the mistake of staying up late and sewing on another quilt,  I was having such a good time,,, so when I went to bed I couldn't sleep.   Otherwise it was a great day,  Dad had his eyes checked and visited with Frank, who is home.

/Find Solitude
O Lord of hosts, if thou wilt...give unto thine handmaid a man child. Then I will give him unto the Lord all the days of his life. 1 Samuel 1:11

There is no blessing I would withhold from those who walk in obedience to Me. Near to My heart and precious in My sight are those who have eyes to discern My purpose and ears that listen to My direction.
Do not be intent on great accomplishments.  It was a relatively small thing that Hannah prayed for a son, but what great things I accomplished through Samuel!
/
What are our purposes in life? What are our goals for ourselves and our families?  Sometimes I hear the news with Jack and they will do 'the person of the week'.  Usually there you find people who have done something great only because it helped someone else and truly the world is made up of a lot of people doing insignificant things for others.  God honors that.  What can you and I do today that in the worlds eye is insignificant, but it is what God wants us to do.  Who can we bless?

I also think of John Osborne's message yesterday.  Discerning the Will of God.  He said it is not always easily discerned, it is not always the direct distance between two points.  God's will is a journey and not a destination.  God is more interested in the how and who.  How do I get from a to b?  Was it selfish?  Who are we during the journey.  Are we becoming Christ like?  We are more worried about the answer rather than answerer.   We read the scripture from Acts 16:6-10,  Paul had a vision to go someplace but the Holy Spirit kept him from going there.   Sometimes we settle for 2nd best, 'Not my will but thine be done.  God knows our future even if we don't.

Father, help us to be a blessing to those in our corner of the world, help us to bless those around us.  Father, I pray for each one in our family, that you would minister to them and meet their needs this day.  In Jesus name.  Amen.

Yesterday, John Osborne from Lakewood Park bible Camp was our speaker because our pastor is in Nicaragua.  We appreciate John and his family.    After our usual nap we ate with the Srs. in Hampden.  Ione mentioned how Susan Werner's husband is really bad, with cancer and the children are home with them.  Pray for that family as they go through this experience together.  Frank is home, someone is coming to help them.  Otherwise a quiet day.

The Burden-Bearer
He might prove thee, to do thee good at thy latter end.  Deuteronomy 8:16

My child, do not share your burdens with all who come to you professing concern.  I, myself, am the great burden-bearer.  You need not look to another.  I will lead you and guide you in wisdom from above.  All things will be as I plan them, if you allow Me the freedom to shape circumstances and lead you to the right decisions.
/
When I first read this, I did not understand the verse, it is from King James.  In NIV it says,  "He gave you manna  to eat in the desert, something your fathers had never known, to humble and to test you so that in the end it might go well with you."  First, it implies that we shouldn't share our burdens with others, but rather look to thee.  That is true, but I don't want any of you to feel that you can't share your burden with me, I desire to pray with you and for you.  I am learning that there are a lot of people in the world who really don't understand what I am experiencing and wouldn't be very helpful.  I have learned that some things I am experiencing would be misunderstood if I said anything to them.  Even people who profess to be Christians don't necessarily understand.
Last Sunday, Michael talked to us about testings  Here are a couple of thoughts from him,  Life is one pop test after another,  we are either taking a test, finishing a test, preparing for a test.  Tests are a certainty of life.  John 16:33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace.  In this world you will have trouble.  But take heart! I have overcome the world".  He mentioned people who had extreme tests, Joseph, Daniel, David...James 1:2-4  Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.  Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything...  Our trials/tests might be physical/physiological/ financial.  There are small tests, tragedies....  Bad news - they happen most of our life, there will be test/pop quiz's, but the good news: Psalm34:19  Lord delivers him from them all.  Michael talked about trials being there for refinement.   He said the refiner (God) is never far from the furnace when his goal is in the fire.  Isaiah 43:2  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.  We are always rewarded for standing the test.  Trials come for a host of reasons.  2 Corinthians 4:17....For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.   Faith....the outcome is up to him.

It seemed that this week we were experiencing a variety of things happening that were testing our faith,  I had written those notes, and was glad I could go back and be reminded that God is with me in the test of life.
Father, we give you this day, we thank you for rest, for your care and for providing for us.  Father, help us to reflect on where you have brought us from and where you are taking us to, what your desires are for our lives.  Help us to be drawn to you so that when the trials and test of life come our way, we will know and see your hand in them.  In Jesus name.
/
Yesterday, was a day at home, I can always keep busy cleaning and sorting and throwing.  I am enjoying my quilting project and piece by piece see some of the accumulated fabric getting used.  I think some of what I am sewing now must have come from Edna Simon.  I guess that is why I always seem to have a supply to make quilts, someone gives me more.  But I pray that we can find a home for the quilts I am making.  We were in town for afternoon coffee with the Srs. and would have gone to FaHoCha meeting, but the wind came up really hard, and since it was warm, the snow stuck to the road, and they were a mess.  Home was a good place to be.
